Dental Implants

Dental implants are sterile titanium cylinders, which are placed in the upper and lower jawbones. Crowns, bridges, or dentures are attached to the implants to form stable restorations. In some situations dental implants are the best treatment option. We most often use these where there are one or two missing teeth that are adjacent to undamaged teeth that we want to maintain, or where a denture does not have enough grip on the jaw. The implants are placed by specialist and the teeth are usually restored by us.^ Top

Cosmetic Dentistry

Dental treatment or repair that is solely rendered to improve the appearance of the teeth or mouth. Cosmetic dentistry is a discipline within dentistry in which the primary focus is the modification of appearance of a patient's oral cavity and surrounding structures, in conjunction with the prevention and treatment of organic, structural, or functional oral disease. Through cosmetic dentistry, the appearance of the mouth can be altered to more closely match the patient's subjective concept of what is visually pleasing.^ Top

Orthodontics

Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry that is concerned with the study and treatment of malocclusions (improper bites), which may be a result of tooth irregularity, disproportionate jaw relationships, or both. The word comes from the Greek words ortho meaning straight and odons meaning tooth.^ Top

Root Canal Treatment

Often a tooth's root structure may be solid, but the nerve is damaged beyond repair. If this is the case, it may be necessary to have root canal treatment. All of our root canal treatments are done by one of our root canal specialists or endodontists to achieve the best and most comfortable results. Most of our patients say their experience at the clinic was one of the better dental experiences they have ever had!^ Top

Crown & Bridge

A crown is a restoration that covers, or "caps," a tooth to restore it to its normal shape and size, strengthening and improving the appearance of a tooth. Crowns are necessary when a tooth is generally broken down and fillings won't solve the problem. If a tooth is cracked, a crown holds the tooth together to seal the cracks so the damage doesn't get worse. Crowns are also used to support a large filling when there isn't enough of the tooth remaining, attach a bridge, protect weak teeth from fracturing, restore fractured teeth, cover badly shaped or discolored teeth or protect a root-canal filled tooth with compromised strength.

A bridge is a dental appliance that replaces one or more natural missing teeth, thereby "bridging" the space between two teeth.Bridges are cemented into place on the "abutment" teeth--the surrounding teeth on either side of the space or span. Unlike removable partial dentures, bridges cannot be taken out of the mouth by the patient. A bridge is a device that typically consists of three units-a pontic (a false tooth) fused between two crowns that are cemented onto the abutment teeth.^ Top

Periodontal Surgery

A surgical procedure involving the gums and jawbone. If you're diagnosed with periodontal disease, your periodontist may recommend periodontal surgery. Periodontal surgery is necessary when your periodontist determines that the tissue around your teeth is unhealthy and cannot be repaired with non-surgical treatment. The periodontist has the ability to save very unstable teeth through periodontal surgery and grafting. ^ Top

Tooth Whitening

Our clinic uses a bleaching system that includes custom fitting trays and weekly checks to ensure the whitening is going well and we are getting the best results possible. Some teeth can grey as they are whitened, so it can be very important to monitor when whitening should stop. Often times whitening is done in conjunction with other restorative procedures to produce the best possible results. Most often it is done by itself just to make what you already have look better.^ Top

Dentures

When a person has had all of their teeth removed we must make complete dentures for the person to wear. Dentures are an acceptable solution, but no match for our real teeth! Hence we always try to save natural teeth. When the teeth are removed we are left with a ridge of bone on the upper and lower parts of our mouth, that we can use to put false teeth on.The lower denture always takes a little more work for most patients to get used to for two reasons:lack of height of bone and prescence of the tongue. The tongue increases in size in an edentulous mouth and it resists any new encumberence to its unchallenged domain. In the upper ridge however there are no such interferences. ^ Top
